A word about Affiliations:

While a long list of "affiliations" may seem impressive one should question how closely one could be affiliated with another group or person. After all there are only so many hours in the day and if the list is extensive how much time could truly be devoted to each entity? This is not to say it couldn't happen but it would be highly questionable.

An affiliate in the martial arts world is more then someone whose seminar you attended or took a picture with. American Heritage Dictionary defines an affiliate as the following:
To adopt or accept as a member, subordinate
associate, or branch: The HMO affiliated the
                 clinics last year.
To associate (oneself) as a subordinate, subsidiary,
employee, or member: affiliated herself with a
                 new law firm.
              To assign the origin of.
To become closely connected or associated:
The two unions voted to affiliate.
              A person, organization, or establishment
associated with another as a subordinate, subsidiary,                  or member: network affiliates.

For example no local, state, or federal government office or agency can be "affiliated" with a business. You should feel free to question claims of affiliation. True affiliates are proud of their partnership/memberships and should not hesitate to provide you with up to date information and documentation to support their claims
